The Warren Awards

Each year, VVS alumni honor a colleague by bestowing the Warren Award to one or two alums who have distinguished themselves in either the work they've done in their communities, in the arts, and for their broader impact on the world. The award winners are announced at reunion weekend each year.

The Warren Awards are presented annually by the VVS Amigos Council to outstanding alumni/ae whose lives and work strongly reflect the VVS mission.  Forged from the brilliant vision, dedication, tears, perspiration, and deep humanity of its founders, Ham and Babs Warren, that mission has guided this school for 50 years!  How magical is the marriage of Sedona’s red rocks and earth with the power of the Warren’s energy and insight?  YOU, the outstanding world citizens whom Verde Valley School helped mold and send out into society, are the tangible evidence of the answer:  quite magical indeed!

It's not difficult to identify VVS alumni whose lives strongly reflect the VVS mission.  Verde Valleans all over the world and from several generations exhibit academic excellence, intercultural understanding and tolerance, environmental stewardship, willingness to serve others, creative expression, and value physical labor.  What is difficult is deciding which alumnus or alumna to nominate for which award - so many of your careers and lives embody so many principles of the VVS mission!  The following awards are presented annually:  Professional Achievement, Service to Humanity, and Creative Excellence.

The descriptions below define the basis for each award. Please use one form per nomination; you are welcome to nominate more than one person. Submission Deadline is March 21st, 2010.

PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT

This award recognizes the outstanding achievements and success of a Verde Valley School alum within his or her profession or field of endeavor. The recipient will have made significant contributions and gained the respect and admiration of their professional peers and a wider community.

SERVICE TO HUMANITY

This award recognizes a Verde Valley School alum whose work and/or life strongly embody this central principle of the VVS mission: "Service to Humanity with a Willing Spirit.” This individual is honored for their significant humanitarian contributions and for the example provided to current and future VVS students and their families.

CREATIVE EXCELLENCE

This award recognizes the outstanding achievements and success of a Verde Valley School alum in an artistic or creative profession or field of endeavor. The recipient will have made significant contributions and gained the respect and admiration of their professional peers and a wider community.
