VVS Reunion Weekend 2011
The 2011 Alumni Reunion Weekend, June 17-18, brought together alumni from throughout six decades of Verde Valley School classe. Continuing the VVS tradition inspired by founder Hamilton Warren, the alumni spent most of the day on Saturday giving back to the school through manual labor. The Class of 1971 has taken the Global Garden as its project and worked on a retaining wall for the future school garden. The Class of 1961 began a Memory Garden near the Chapel to honor their classmates who have passed away. The Flagtone Crew repaired the Sears Complex courtyard and made other much-needed repairs to flagstone throughout the campus. Other alumni also worked on gardening and landscaping. A group of volunteers participated in a phone-a-thon to reconnect with alumni across the country.
The weekend kicked off on Thursday with two special dinners - the traditional Amigos Gourmet Dinner with chef Shari Sollars, and a Class of 1971 BBQ with chefs Greg Chandler '71 and Marsha Bisgyer '71.
A question and answer session with Board President Chuck Adams '72 and Head of School Graham Frey was well-attended. Alumni were interested in the positive reports and had a number of suggestions for the school.
Saturday evening included the Warren Award presentations to Tim Fuller '61 and Richard Register '65.
The weekend concluded on Sunday morning with a dedication to the Hamilton and Barbara Warren Memorial near the Chapel, created by the Flagstone Crew.
