Art Students Win Top Awards

On Sunday, April 29, Emerson Sirin-Galis (left) and Ly "Harriet" Bui (right) were awarded Best of Show in the Northern Arizona Watercolor Society Student Art Show in Sedona. Harriet won for the two-dimensional category, and Emerson won in the three-dimensional category. Both students were also given a $150 prize.

The Northern Arizona Watercolor Society was created in Sedona in 1995 by avid watercolorist Anna Mary Seyfert. NAWS now has more than 178 charter members in the Sedona area. The student art show is an annual juried show in which students from many northern Arizona schools participate.

The VVS art teachers are Jeff Perkins '72, Jeremy Broomfield, and John Kelley.

In all, 18 VVS art students received awards in the show this year.
