Chris has spent most of his life in Oregon, the past 20 years as a science teacher at Junction City High School, a public high school near Eugene, Oregon. He studied molecular biology at The University of Chicago and later earned his teaching degree at the University of Oregon. Between degrees, he also made a career in graphic design and marketing that specialized in fly fishing and other outdoor businesses.
Chris has taught biology, physics, chemistry, forensic science, history of science, and math in his teaching career. He also has coached men’s and women’s soccer at the high school, club, and collegiate levels. In addition to soccer, he has also coached track & field and chess. Chris also is an accomplished soccer referee.
Chris enjoys fly fishing, backpacking, golf, canyoneering, cooking, and gardening. He also loves hiking to waterfalls and scenic views and kayaking with his wife, Liz – a VVS College Counselor, coach and dorm parent. Chris and Liz are dorm parents and live in the girls’ dormitory complex with Phineas, their 16-year-old miniature schnauzer. They have three adult children – Hannah, Seth, and Zemedkun.
