MacKenzie’s upbringing emphasized multiple perspectives and adapting to change.
She appreciates having lived in many places: Carefree, Arizona; Portland, Oregon; Walla Walla, Washington; Los Angeles, California; Providence, Rhode Island; and different parts of France. Of everywhere that she has traveled, MacKenzie’s roots remain in Arizona, where she pursued secondary and undergraduate studies alongside international students.
During her Master’s in Teaching at Brown, MacKenzie administered non-profit Frequency Writers’ workshops and served as an artist-resident at AS220, a sustainable community-arts organization. Previously, she wrote Social Studies textbooks and digital curriculum with the Choices Program and continues to leverage technology for discussions of global events.
After class, MacKenzie teaches Yin and Vinyasa yoga as a Yoga Alliance certified instructor, following over ten years of practice—which she carries wherever she goes!
