Scott grew up in Los Angeles, CA, moved to Santa Cruz to study geology, and ultimately found himself in Sedona. After school he starting working with youth in a wide variety of settings and programs, focused on experiential outdoor education and a whole learning experience. It was a spontaneous visit to Sedona that brought him to the Verde Valley School where he was entranced by the students maturity, the compassionate and intentional community and the quality of the educational process. It is here that Scott has found his passion educating students in a dynamic environment, in and out of doors with a community that is working to develop the whole person. A place where all the staff have a goal for each student to reach their potential as a human being on this beautiful shared planet.
When Scott is not teaching he loves to spend his time sleeping under the stars, rock climbing, exploring with his backpack on, dipping into newly discovered water, skiing, getting dirty, eating new foods in new places and being with his community.
