M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D. in French, Yale University
Tara hails from Toledo, Ohio. She pursued a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in French at Boston University. A semester in Paris fueled her love of the French language, and she returned to Paris after her undergraduate studies to work as an au pair for a French family. She later moved to Connecticut to do a doctorate in French at Yale University, and she had the opportunity to travel to both France and Senegal while writing her dissertation. Tara taught French at two independent schools in Connecticut, then spent several years working as an editor for a medical translation company. She also worked with refugees and immigrants as a volunteer ESOL teacher—a wonderful experience that reinforced her desire to return to teaching French. Tara is thrilled to be a part of VVS and believes strongly in the school’s core values of academic excellence, environmental stewardship, service, and intercultural understanding. She loves cinema, yoga, salsa dancing, traveling, and exploring the incredible natural beauty of Arizona.
