  • Anticipated High School Math Position

    Job Description:
    Verde Valley School seeks a skilled and enthusiastic high school math teacher to teach math courses in our pre-IB and IB programs and provide additional math support for students who struggle. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience and an affinity for working with math students of all levels and demonstrate the conviction - through speech, action and curriculum design - that all students can learn the skills necessary for success in high school math and beyond.

    We are looking for teachers who truly love working with adolescents and are ready to fully immerse in all facets of boarding school life on our rustic desert campus. In addition to classroom teaching, each faculty member supervises students one evening per week, one weekend per month, and twice each week for campus work jobs. Each faculty member leads one extracurricular activity or sport twice each week and is responsible for advising 4-5 students. Most faculty members lead a 2-week wilderness & service trip throughout the
    Southwest each November. Meals in our dining hall are provided. On-campus housing may be available, space-permitting.

    Preference is given to candidates who have:
    · Experience with differentiated instruction and assessment
    · Experience and enthusiasm for teaching in diverse communities
    · Experience working in a residential setting
    · Experience coaching and/or leading outdoor activities
    · Experience teaching AP or IB curriculum

    Job Description
    Verde Valley School seeks a skilled, enthusiastic and experienced upper level high school English teacher with the ability to teach IB English Language and Literature grades 11 and 12 as well as an interest in and ability to teach additional classes in the English department should the need arise. Through reading and viewing a range of texts, students develop their critical reading and analytical writing skills. Humanities classes at VVS include seminar discussions, frequent opportunities to practice and receive feedback on their analytical writing as well as creative and collaborative projects. A belief that all students can develop the reading and writing skills necessary for college and beyond coupled with an affinity for differentiating instruction for a wide range of students are hallmarks of the VVS English faculty.

    In addition to teaching, all full-time faculty lead one extracurricular sport/activity twice each week. In terms of residential duty, faculty supervise students one evening per week and one weekend per month. Verde Valley is proud of its experiential education programs. Faculty are responsible for co-leading a ten-day experiential education travel program throughout the Southwest during the fall. In the spring, faculty lead an eight-day on-campus project-based
    program on a topic outside their discipline. Verde Valley School is a residential community. On-campus housing and meals at the dining hall are provided.

    · Experience designing and implementing IB English Language & Literature and/or AP English Language & Composition
    · Experience differentiating instruction for a wide range of learners
    · Experience infusing experiential education into a literature classroom

    · Experience leading multi-day experiential education trips

    Job Description: Verde Valley School seeks a skilled and enthusiastic high school Visual Arts teacher to teach studio art classes to students in grades 9 - 12.  Topics include but are not limited to: drawing, painting, photography, design, sculpture, ceramics and printing.The Visual Arts position requires experience planning and designing curriculum, differentiating instruction for a wide variety of learners, and using educational technology.  The ideal candidate is a highly organized, energetic educator committed to the belief that the arts are a vital part of a well-rounded education and the belief that all students can benefit from a foundation in the Visual Arts. 

    In addition, as a member of the VVS faculty, the Visual Art teacher will be expected to participate in VVS community life through service in the residential program (dorm parenting, weeknight duty & weekend duties), advising, and co-curricular programs (leading an 11-day  field expedition offsite, coaching an afternoon activity, & leading a Project Period course).  
     
    The ideal candidate is someone who loves engaging adolescents of all abilities in the study of Visual Arts and is ready to fully immerse in all facets of boarding school life on our rustic desert campus.

    Job Description:
    Verde Valley School seeks a skilled and enthusiastic high school science teacher to teach lab science courses in a college prep boarding school committed to experiential education. We anticipate an opening in the lab sciences for the 2025-2026 academic year. The ideal candidate will be comfortable teaching in at least two lab science areas including Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science and/or Physics/Physical Science.

    Teachers at Verde Valley School employ experiential, student-centered methods to engage a wide variety of students in the study of science. All courses are taught with an inquiry-based approach with the teacher guiding students to question, explore, collect and analyze data using the scientific method. IB courses are two-year courses that culminate with the completion of IB assessments in the senior year.

    Job Description:
    Verde Valley School seeks a skilled and enthusiastic learning support teacher to lead our Learning Support Program by providing executive functioning and study skills support to students throughout the academic day. Academic classes at Verde Valley School are writing-intensive and emphasize discussion, research, critical thinking and analysis. The Learning Support class provides scaffolding for core academic classes in the following areas: task initiation, personal organization, time management, breaking down assignments, and communication with teachers.
